Exploring Nature, Spirit, and Story Through Art

Where Traditional & Digital Techniques meet quiet moments of reflection on my inner and outer journeys.

At Tapawingo Studio I explore painting, printmaking, mixed media and digital processes, often letting them overlap in surprising ways. Much of my recent work blends traditional techniques with digital tools to create what I call tradigital pieces, where texture, symbolism and story come together. I am drawn to images that hint at cultural archetypes and deeper questions, inviting viewers to look closely and find their own connections.

My paintings are mainly acrylic.  Sometimes I mix media such as graphite and pastel and, depending on the image, will texture the canvas first to add interest.  My drawings are done from graphite, charcoal and soft pastel.

Card Decks

I recently created a card deck of the 41 images from my “Beyond the Garden: A Visual Journey of Transformation” book. The cards are 6”x4” on heavy stock. On the back of each card is a saying to meditate upon. The deck comes in a black velvet bag. Another deck is presently being created that centers around archetypal/tarot images.

Tradigital Artwork

My source images for creating tradigital work are created from images I have created in the traditional way such as painting, drawing, mixed media. I then layer digital effects on these images and manipulate them until I produce a pleasing image which often takes many hours.

Books & Publications

My independently published books were created in low volume runs, which makes them more personal than mass produced editions. Some titles may be available directly from me. My artwork has also appeared in music CD covers, magazines and publications by other authors, allowing the imagery to reach new audiences in different ways.

Quilt Designs

My quilt images are produced from my tradigital work. Personally, I work with fabric in more of a collage manner than traditional quilting. However, my designs can be used for patterns in quilt making in the traditional way.

Calendars & Other Things

Each year I create an 8.5 x 11 inch glossy wall calendar that features twelve of my images plus a cover design. When opened, it measures 8.5 x 17 inches and offers a colourful art filled view for each month. I also create occasional small items such image based keepsakes that offer extra ways to enjoy my artwork.

What People Are Saying

  • "I recently purchased a print. The moment I saw this image, there was an immediate visceral response for me. I knew I had to live with this image and it just grabbed me. It reminds me of a dream or a Tarot card. I could see a lifetime of stories about my inner journey and wanted to look at it often. I can't speak to it's technical merit, but it just doesn't matter. To me, that's art."
